Following my passion for waterfowl and the magnificence of completing the act of annual migration that these species and many other avian species perform, I have always been captivated by avian banding studies. In my profession, I band a diversity of avian species from neotropical migrants to many resident species. My personal interests have also led to maintaining a small captive flock of mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) for breeding and observatory purposes. Annually, as mallard broods are hatched, each one is banded with a www.simmonscalls.com band and a unique identification number to identify its banding year and release location. Once capable of fledging (flying), pairs are released on private water bodies throughout eastern Oklahoma.
To report a band, I may be contacted by phone or email from the links located above. Once contacted, I will send you a certificate, stating the age, banding year, and a unique conservation message. Below you will also find photos from from past banding and releasing events. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. I also encourage you to visit the 101 Page at www.simmoncalls.com for videos regarding the biology of mallard nesting.
